They say God is in the details, and it's a good thing He is. There are a lot of things up in the air right now, and they are starting to fall--fairly neatly-- into place instead of crashing down around me.
Even as the moving dates are secured (packers arrive in 2 days), the final inspection of the house is secured (one week to make this house sparkle and shine), and final purchases are made for the kids' school in Phoenix ( you've never seen a more handsome group of kids in khaki shorts and polo shirts!), it was the little things today that took my breath away.
Like pancakes slathered with pb and bananas, doused with maple syrup (straight from the trees of Western NY!)-- enjoyed with Joe in a quiet moment. Like the kids in awe of the carpet guy who came to patch the holes in our rug (thanks to an industrious digger by the name of Scout). Like Wii baseball with cousin Nate at 5 o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon (gonna miss that so much it hurts). Like the neighborhood kids racing scooters up and down the block til the street lights came on. Like a bedtime phone call from Raylie while she's on a trip.
Sometimes the piles of little toys, and little markers, and little clothes-- let's just call it all "little litter"-- drives me bonkers. And I can't see past all the little to the big picture. But, today I was reminded that the big picture only makes sense because of the little things.
When you look at your big picture, what little things do you see that make you smile?
